Custom Jewelry Design is our specialty.  We have been making jewelry for over forty years.We know how to do custom.

We are experts at taking an idea and turning it into a three-dimensional, wearable piece that you’ll enjoy forever. We want you to be thrilled with your new piece!

Custom jewelry design isn’t merely adding a new setting to a ring, or changing the center stone. Custom Jewelry Design is creating something out of nothing.  Transforming the elements and energy around us into expressions of our life and times.

JEWELRY REPAIR

 

AFJ offers jewelry repair services for all types of fine jewelry, all completed on the premises. Our master goldsmith Andrey Gibelev utilizes the latest in tool technologies along with decades of experience to repair your worn or broken jewelry. 
Jewelry repairs are completed in 3 to 10 business days and our work guaranteed for 12 months from completion date.

We will gladly provide a free estimate following a complimentary jewelry cleaning and inspection.

Watch repairs are guaranteed for 90 days from completion date.  We do not warranty watches against water damage.

 

JEWELRY RESTORATION

 

AFJ also offers complete jewelry restoration. Unlike a repair, a restoration is much more extensive and can include shank replacement, prong replacement, stone re-cutting, detail and engraving restoration and undercarriage replacement. Restoration incorporates the same techniques that were used when the item was originally created, keeping the “original” item intact and reviving it to a like new condition. However, each restoration is unique and AFJ cannot guarantee that all jewelry items can, in fact, be restored. Each article of jewelry must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine whether restoration is possible and just how much it will cost.

 

APPRAISALS

 

AFJ offers an appraisal for articles of fine jewelry. Unlike a diamond certificate, an appraisal is a statement of both quality and value and is, in most cases, required to obtain an insurance policy. The value of jewelry changes with market conditions, so an appraisal can become out-of-date and need to be updated every four years or as the market requires. At AFJ, we are committed to the ethical evaluation of jewelry that reflects the actual current market prices with truthful and accurate descriptions. For items that have been purchased at AFJ, an appraisal is provided at no cost. Our standard appraisal fee for items purchased elsewhere is $45 for the first item and $25 for each additional item. For appraisals with more than 6 items, there is a $5 per item price reduction.

 

 

GEMSTONE RE-CUTTING AND REPAIR

 

 

Occasionally a diamond or gemstone can be chipped or even broken. AFJ can, in most cases, repair chipped diamonds and all colored gemstones with minimal loss. Each stone must be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for the best approach as to repair the damaged stone. In some extreme cases, a different shape may be recommended. After reviewing the damage, we will estimate for you the projected weight loss and final measurements of the stone after having been re-cut.

 

ENGRAVING

 

 

We do machine engraving , but a size of the engraving object is limited. Hand engraving is also available.

 

PEARL RESTRINGING

 

Pearls are strung on silk which can weaken, stretch or discolor over time. Pearls worn regularly should be restrung once a year, while pearls worn occasionally should be restrung every 2-3 years. AFJ offers expert pearl restringing to insure your pearls remain secure and safe. We thoroughly clean your pearls, restring on silk, knot between each pearl, and finish with French wire at the clasp. We are happy to inspect your pearls and advise you if your pearls are in need

 

METAL BUYING

 

 

Jewelers may well have been the first recyclers. Gold has always retained its value and is no different today, even more so now that prices have risen so much. We buy gold and recycle gold. We also buy platinum, silver and diamonds. Bring your unworn, broken or unwanted jewelry into the store and we’ll give you an estimate of its value.
